Can Your Parents Still Claim You as a Dependent?
Your parents can claim you if:
You’re under 24 and a full-time student.
They provide more than half of your financial support.
You lived with them for more than half the year (school housing counts as living with them).
If your parents claim you, you still need to file a tax return if you had income above the filing threshold. However, you won’t be able to claim education tax credits—those go to your parents.
